Meet the trainer behind Sage Made…

Sage Made Canine was created from a simple belief: training should make life feel better for both ends of the leash. I’m Kyra, the trainer and owner behind Sage Made Canine, and my journey with animals has always been rooted in understanding, patience, and building genuine partnerships. With a B.S. in Equestrian Studies from the University of Findlay and a background in animal welfare, nutrition, and training, I’ve spent years working with animals in a variety of settings. My experience extends beyond the equine world, from fostering animals and caring for pets as a sitter to working hands-on with horses and developing a deeper understanding of behavior, communication, and the human-animal relationship.

At the heart of Sage Made Canine is Sage herself, my 3-year-old Beauceron and the inspiration behind the name and everything that I do. She’s smart, spirited, loyal, and has taught me that training is so much more than teaching a dog what to do. It’s about learning how to communicate with one another, building trust, and giving dogs the skills to confidently navigate the world around them.

My approach to training is practical, relationship-focused, and designed for real life. I believe dogs don’t need to be perfect - they need to be understood, and their people need to feel confident communicating with them. That means we don’t just practice commands in the backyard and call it a day. We build skills that carry into walks, parks, patios, visitors, busy environments, and all of the every day moments that make up life with your dog. I use balanced training methods to create individualized training plans that meet each dog owner where they are.

I also believe that owners are just as much a part of the training process as their dogs. My goal isn’t to simply train your dog for you - it’s to teach you how to understand them, communicate clearly, and continue building on what we’ve accomplished together. Because the best training isn’t something that ends when our sessions do. It’s something that becomes part of your everyday life.
